GREGOR KUHAR

Lighting designer

Gregor Kuhar is a philosophy graduate who joined the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre in 2019 as a lighting designer. The shows he has worked on are frequently featured at various reference puppet festivals throughout Europe. He most often collaborates with directors of contemporary puppet shows, where light becomes an independent entity or an equal co-star in the stage action. In children's plays, he repeatedly explores the varied specifics of lighting relationships and their effect on the youngest viewers, while in adult performances, he innovatively creates multi-layered lighting experiences, often integrated with new media and technologies. For the Transport project, he collaborated with Matej Lazar, the creator of the code for the wireless lighting system, to create an innovative lighting landscape that allows remote control using state-of-the-art technology. In doing so, he created a convincing illusion of lifelike presence in hyper-realistic miniature sets, thus enriching the intensity of the theatrical experience with powerful lighting atmospheres.
