MATEJA STARIČ

Composer, sound designer

Mateja Starič is a Slovenian composer and sound designer working in theatre, film, animation and multimedia. She has scored numerous animation, documentary and fiction films, radio plays and multimedia projects. Her work on the film The Box by the Slovenian author Dušan Kastelic has won several international awards, including at the British Animation Film Festival in London, Lanterna Mágica in Brazil, and the Peer Raben Music Award at SoundTrack_Cologne, a film music symposium in Cologne. She occasionally lectures and teaches workshops at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana and at the School of Arts, University of Nova Gorica. In the Transport project, she creates sound that, in addition to providing ambient support, also takes on the role of an animator, using its suggestive power to connect relatively static visual elements into a narrative and emotional whole. The sound in the performance allows the viewer to interpret the visual compositions as part of a coherent narrative flow.
